60k machines for Cardiff City Stadium
A CARDIFF firm is making sure the city’s football team has a pitch fit to keep the Bluebirds at the top of the Championship table.
Ted Hopkins, based in Marshfield in Cardiff, is providing the machines, worth more than £60,000, to maintain the Cardiff City Stadium and its grounds.
The specialist machines include a premium mower, a noise and emissions-saving electronic transport buggy, an all-terrain Kubota vehicle for changing the goalposts, and a machine from American supplier, Toro, which aerates the pitch and stops it compacting.
The company, which was established in 1987, has had contracts with the Millennium Stadium, the Liberty Stadium, Rodney Parade, Parc Y Scarlets and, more recently, the Swalec Stadium during its preparations for the Ashes tour.
The contract with Cardiff City Stadium means that Ted Hopkins will have worked with all major stadiums in Wales.
Chris Hopkins, director of Ted Hopkins, said: “These four new machines combined mean that Cardiff’s new stadium will be able to compete with the best of them.”
Wayne Nash, manager of Cardiff City Stadium, said: “With 8,400 metres of pitch to maintain, we needed to make sure that we have the best machines possible to ensure an excellent service for our players and fans alike.”
Ted Hopkins, which has a turnover of £6m and a second depot in Brecon, is the exclusive provider of Toro machines in Wales and acts as the preferred supplier for the stadiums of the Welsh Rugby Union and the Celtic Manor.
